Motive Half Marathon Race Report 2006

Overall I ran a very good race and ended up with a time that was faster then my MGP. During the first couple miles down Jollyville I tried my best to keep my pace down, I had a pretty decent pain in the front of my ankle. The pain went away right before the hills. I decided to take a Gu around mile 3 before the hills so that I’d have enough energy to make it up the hills, which I think was a pretty good move. I did the hills at around a 10:03/mi pace, according to the King of the Hill results. After the hills I had a lot of gas left (I took one more Gu), and decided to pick up the pace, but didn’t want to blow the race in the end. Around mile 11 I started to get a little tired, and through Riata my legs were hurting, and this is about when Amy caught up to me. Right before the turn into Motive I increased my pace to a sprint though the finish line. I ran faster then I ever thought I could. This morning I had quite a bit of knee pain, probably because my cat made me sleep in a weird position, but during tonight’s 4 mile shuffle it didn’t hurt at all.
